I got this at the LFS , they had it in a pipe due to it having a long stem and being unable to hold itself up. when i brought it home i did the same and put it in a pvc pipe.
It looks to be pretty happy in my tank , is it safe to leave it like this? Should i remove the pipe and let it lay on the sand or perhaps wedge it in a rock?

I’d let it acclimate a few more days and then try removing it from the pipe and see if you can’t wedge it between some rocks. This will allow it to attach to the rock vs. a pipe.

I agree with the others but I just want to say what a smart idea it was to use PVC pipe. It can still be used but may be an eye sore long term.

i agree the pipe will be an eyesore. is there any rubble or sand in the foot that you can use to glue/epoxy to a spot you want? can't really glue it down b/c the glue won't stick to the bare foot. there has to be a medium for the glue/epoxy to stick to, and leather skin/bare foot won't work, at least in my experience.

if it's a bare foot, consider putting some sand/rubble/shells in the bottom of the pipe (or some other container) so the foot can attach to something that you can actually glue/epoxy where you want it. it might take a week or two.

btw, great looking toadstool! good luck!

edit: yea, what uncle99 said about 60 seconds before I posted, haha.

Mine took a month to attach but is happy now. At 8 inches high and 6 inches wide I have to make sure nothing stings it.

thank you all for the excellent advice, this weekend i will try to secure it with out the pipe and see how it goes, I am not yet brave enough to cut it :)
