I have a huge toadstool (about the size of a basketball) that started getting holes in it. The holes keep growing, even to the point of a piece starting to come off. The toadstool itself keeps growing, and if not for the holes, looks healthy, polyps extended. What could cause it to get these holes? Is there a disease that soft corals get that causes this?

Fotos would be really helpful for some more experience members to give more accurate information on what might be the problem.

Typically an occurrence during molt and reproduction whereas they will drop small pieces of themselves to become new ones

Thanks for the replies! Yes, I think that must be what it's up to! Heres some pics...

You can go in and cut or let it do its thing. It's not a fast process.

Thanks, it has been interesting watching this thing change. It changes from week to week, sometimes it will turn itself to face the food, or light (all in a matter of an hour or two), to whatever makes it happy. I have 6 large windows and a door with a large glass, so it catches some natural sunlight. Of all my corals, this one is the most evolving one!
