I need to know about this algae please....
It only grows on this one rock- sometimes across the sand-
When I do a water change I "weed"'it a bit-
My snails do not seem to eat it....
How don't get rid of it, or do I even need to?

Green hair algae from excess nutrients. It can and will over take the tank need to get it in check. Gfo or similar will help cut back feedings and light schedule will help. Need to fix the problem or it'll be a nightmare.

Hair algae. Since it's only on one rock I'd guess the rock is leaching a lot of nitrates/phosphates. Remove it from the tank. It'll need to be tossed or treated to remove the chemicals being leached, the algae is just a sign of the problem.

Can't tell if its hair algae, maidens hair, or bryopsis. Is it feathery looking up close or stringy? If feathery, pick it out. As much as you can. As bryopsis is one of the harder algaes to rid your tank of. Almost nothing eats it. If stringy then not as bad. Short thick bush is usually green hair algae. Also a bad one. But close cropping usually will be affective as many critters will eat it. Long thinner stringy is maidens hair. Which I don't think is much of a problem although I've never had it. But some people actually buy it as a macro. So can't be that bad. :-) hope that helps a little

Thanks! Just bumped up my clean up crew- but if that doesn't work, the Rock is history!
