Hey guys, I just wanted to share an interesting thing my girl has recently started doing.

So a bit of back back story: this big tomato clown used to be in my main reef tank, but I had to banish her to her own tank because she was bullying everyone and everyTHING that passed her by. However, an anemone used to host her in the main tank and since then she's had no host, but I did buy her a fake anemone to see if she would take a liking to that one.

Fast forward a few months, I got really busy with some life events and kind of stopped taking care of the tank for a while so some hair algae grew at the top of the rocks. I was going to get rid of the algae, but since I have no corals or anything like that in there I just left it because I thought it looked interesting in the water current.

Well turns out she liked it too! She's completely ignoring the fake anemone I got her and instead now goes to the patch of hairgrass. I was originally going to scrape off all the algae so I could grow some GSP instead, but now I'll feel bad lol.

Just thought I'd share this because I've never seen a clown want algae as a host before. I knew they sometimes would go for corals, but I didn't know they liked algae too ahaha.

Side note, she didn't care for the algae until I put in a powerhead to put in some more water current in the tank. Maybe she just likes flowy things lol

lol! Looks like something that would happen in my tank!

clowns will do what clowns will do, we are just here to watch them lol.

mine are hosted by a condy anemone. hoping they don't get eaten by it one day.

Lol out of all the things they could go for they chose a condy. Hope they're careful!

It happened when I moved everything from my 75 gallon to my 90. I believe my blue eyed kole was bullying them, and everyone else, so they were seeking refuge and the condy was the only thing ready really to host them.

I lost my patch of green hairy mushrooms due to an explosion of swampy green water for a week or so. I gave a dude a split off facebook for free - do you think it's right to ask him for a split when it splits again? LOL

Aw dang, sorry to hear about your mushrooms man. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask for a split back once your tank goes back to normal! A split for a split lol

"Hair grass" -- I like it!
Now you just need a fence to keep it all in your clown "lawn".
Lol good idea! Now where do I find a fence tiny enough to keep it all in..
