I am newer to saltwater tanks and have a question. About 2 weeks ago I noticed my Tomini tang had a discolored spot between his eyes. He seems ok and eating. Just never seen this before. Is this something to be concerned about? None of the other fish are showing signs of anything at the moment. My local fish store had me try Herbtana but it hasn’t changed and I’m on day 10 adding it. I did noticed last night when I added Herbtana he was the only fish darting off the rocks. I have attached a picture. Thanks

Maybe scraped there and infection setting in. Some pics in thread below to compare. Hope someone can nail it down

@Jblaine do you have possibility of setting up small qt tank?
The immune booster may not be enough if it’s infection. What do you feed? Do you add selcon or other vitamins? Adding vitamins and ensuring your feeding high quality foods can help the fish’s immune system and ability to recover as well.
Good news is he is eating so you hit this once a positive I’d is made then the smarter folks can guide if meds like acriflavin etc are of use.
Best of luck

@Raege Thank you for the response. I do have a small take that does have a new fish in it at the moment. Currently I’m feeding LRS reef frenzy, Hikari Bio-Pure Mysis shrimp, and LRS Premium Seaweed. I have not used any additional vitamins. Do you suggest trying a certain kind/brand?

Selcon is what I've been advised to use for nutrition . Won't hurt even with the quality foods your using. Let's see if someone can suggest any meds or confirm infection @HotRocks @4FordFamily

That looks like severe HLLE on the head or an injury.

I would stop herbtana. High nutrition, nori, soaking foods in Zoe, selcon, and/or vita chem is my suggestion. If it worsens, treat in QT for infection with Nitrofuracin Green. Or, Cipro baths.

Hows Tank looking? Hoping it hasn't worsened and is starting to improve.

I think chances are it is HLLE. Pay attention to the water quality and feed it a good mix of nutritious foods, best with vitamin supplement like Selcon Concentrate. Usually it can go away on its own with good water quality and good diet, might leave a scar though.

Tomini is a Bristletooth Tang, one of the hardier Tangs.

It is looking better than it was when I posted the first pictures.
