Tom's Custom Biocube

Nice build.
Very nice equipment and DIY skills.
But I gotta ask what not just buy a 30cube that was RR instead of getting a Biocube and drilling it.

I liked the self contained features of the biocube and that it has a sleek look to it.

Yeah but you drilled it so its not self contained anymore.
But I'm not bashing you have done a very good job on it and it looks great.

What I mean by self contained is that I don't have to hang or mount a light over it or build a canopy, it's covered which keeps unwanted things out (kid safe), and the way I built it the sump is 100% enclosed in the stand.

Thats a great cube! wish I started with one like that instead of an Hqi. Very sleek and loce the wrasse

I originally was going to go with an HQI but didn't like that there's no way to have light at lower levels or a blues phase in the day.

Yeah. The stock components if the cube ended up being terrible. I rrplaced the filtration, skimmer, pumps, and put an aquaticlife pro led module. LEDS on a biocube works great

On a side note, after some further investigation I am 100% certain my wrasse is actually an orange-backed fairy wrasse and not the yellow-flanked fairy wrasse it was sold to me as. I don't mind at all as both are reef safe and I love his coloration. He is likely a juvenile which made it more difficult to tell but the defined blue belly and deep red/purple head helps me to distinguish.

All that really matters is that it is healthy as could be and eating well. Even with all the precautions and experience I have I am always still nervous when I add a first fish.

Here's a pic of the new clownfish. Still clearing out some post cycle algae so I'll show off the 40ish SPS corals in a future update.

Thats OUTSTANDING!!! To do a mod to a older cube is genius! Great Job nice show and tell. Thanks

Still fighting hair algae that came during the cycle. It is very frustrating as the main reason I used dry rock was to avoid inherited problems like algae. Anyway, I picked up an RBTA yesterday. It wondered around all day and night and seems to have stopped here. I snapped 2 quick pics with the iPhone.

I wanted to snap something for an update. I'm struggling to figure out how to get a clean looking balanced shot with led lights. I'll be picking up a new camera soon but until then here's an HDR pic from my iPhone. More to come...

Here's a few respectable pics from today. Happy with the tank so far. Everything is going well other than my RBTA doesn't look like its going to make it.
