Tongan nassarius snail....dead or....?

I added 6 Tongan nassarius snails on October 16th. This was 45 days into my tanks cycle and I had reached 0 ammonia and nitrites 2 weeks prior. I also added a ball of chaeto amd some or to the fuge to seed the tank with pods, brittle stars etc. Everything has been going along as expected ive been taking things very slowly this time around. The snails have been eating I make sure of it when I ghost feed the tank. I added 2 peppermint shrimp to take care of a few aiptasia that hitchiked on the lr and 6 astrea snails on Nov 7th. Tonight I noticed one of my nas snails on the sandbed but his shell looked empty so I flipped him over and I cant tell if he's dead or just sucked into his shell really tight. Ive included a photo if someone could give me their opinion of appreciate it thanks. -Greg

Usually if you can see a foot they’re ok, just flip them back over. If it was dead, I’d imagine your peppermint shrimp would have cleaned them up by now

Ok, I had a similar thought about the peppermint shrimp as well. I was just worried because I've never had one of them sitting on the sandbed like that without any fleshy portion of their body protruding. Usually if their resting like that they are burried beneath the sandbed. Thanks for the response I've flipped him over already will check on him tmw

I have some snails seem stay at sand bed or just wander few inches away it's favorite resting spot for days and I thought it's dead. I flipped it over and use magnified glass to check on it, it's still alive but seem lazy to move around LOL

Either my peppermint shrimp are in the process of committing murder in the 1st degree or the nas snail was dead. I checked on him in the a.m. before work and again when I got home this evening before lights out and he hadnt moved an inch. I just came out with a flashlight to check on things as I often do at night to find a peppermint shrimp had dragged him into his cave and is trying to flip him
