Too close for comfort

I just thought I’d share... this coral started out about the size of a quarter. Now it’s almost as wide as the gyre behind it. Apparently the gyre is a good thing cause the coral is trying to grow onto it. Guess it’s time to adjust the gyre.

And clean it!

I have two gyres in a tank with a bunch of nems. I use these fine plastic mesh sleeves to provide myself with the illusion of increased safety to tank inhabitants.

Got the sleeves.... somewhere! Oh.... I cleaned it recently. It’s old and covered in coralline algae.
