Hello all, I have 2 clowns “Bonnie and Clyde” been in my 32 biocube (stock LED lights) for just over 3 months now and my one just recently seems to really love my Duncan especially at night

the Duncan only tolerates this for a few minutes then gets ticked off and shriveles up I’ve always kicked around the idea of getting my clowns a anemone ,LFS has basically takes me out of it saying it will cause issues and they don’t need a anemone but would like to get a second opinion from the r2r community I still have many questions
1.risks?
2.pros vs cons?
3.is my tank too small?
4.whats the best option for choosing a anemone for clowns?

Will be attending a frag swap/fish show tomorrow afternoon so should I be on the look for a anemone?
Talk me in or out of it i appreciate it thanks in advance

U would need to wait till your tank is 6 months and upgrade the light . The anemone won’t host the clownfish atomically

There is no guarantee the anenome will host them or that they will even be interested in the anenome.
I had to transfer one because of it stinging my sps.

What type of nem did you have in mine ?

I would go with a bubble tip they are the easiest and really nice . Even if the anemone doesn’t host the clowns they add movement to the tank

Your Duncan looks like a elegance coral

It probably is this tank was a old display tank from My LFS I bought it to get a jump start into the hobby- tank,stand,sand,water,rock,4 hermits,4 snails,a bunch of corals including that one 500$ Was told it was a Duncan your not the first to question it lol

I don’t think you should rush and buy one at the show tomorrow. You should continue and research. We have currently two RBTA. I really like them but you have to know they will move to where they want. So they will sting and may kill some coral. Would you be fine with that? If they split would you keep them or spend the time to get them out of the tank and re-home? May need to cover pumps so they don’t get shredded.

Yeah there around $100 , I would consider what Steve said and be more worried about the other coral (if u have a lot and no room). If you do decide to get one you would need to upgrade your lights first .
