Just wondering if I could get your guys opinion on this...

I found a fluval sea marine 3.0 59 watt on Facebook marketplace for $150 new. I know I should likely walk, but it's very tempting. She is willing to meet in person at a police station to exchange as well.

Are there any tiny details I could look for to confirm it's the real deal or should I just move on?

I'd hate to pass up a real deal

Looks like the retail for new in the box 59 watt models is about 290$.

Just look at the box and light and make sure it's new.

I would also make sure that it's the light you want. A 4 foot light that's only 59 watts at full power is pretty weak, if you are keeping corals.

Yes it is a deal if it is new, but that light is only going to be good enough for the most basic of softies, aka, GSP, Xenia, some zoas and mushrooms. But for a starter light with some controls it will serve its purpose.

Yea I figured, regardless of some saying it would work, it still wouldn't be enough. I'll just get a different light and cancel the meet up.

Thanks!

Well, it depends on the dimensions of the tank and what corals you want to keep.

I'd be tempted to buy it and resell it, if it's really new in box for 1/2 price.
