Too high pH

You likely do not need to lower pH, but I can advise if you do in an emergency overdose setting.

If you are not dosing very high pH additives, then pH is likely never too high.

I would say that pH above 8.6 is too high, but readings at that level likely are not accurate unless dosing hydroxide in some form, or you have very poor aeration.

8.6+ would be too high for me. As pH is usually a result of high alk or low CO2 I would lower Alk. Water change might help but adding a few drops of Muratic into the new salt water (and heavily aerate to remove CO2) can help bring it down a bit more.

@Randy Holmes-Farley
hi, recently added CO2 scrubber and my ph is constanly 8.6 during the day and 8.4 during night. Would you leave it as it is or lower it a bit? Would you say 8.6 is dangerously high? So far is stable at 8.6 and it does not go above. Thanks

8.6 is my threshold as well. Based on various videos I saw of others who are dosing pH boosting solutions.

Although I question the accuracy of my apex probe, i am having PH between 8.26 and 8.44 as per the charts. tank seems happy!!
