Testing out my new build and the running water noise is way too much to handle. What should I do now.

If change the overflow drain. I always do mine with one drain lower than the other with a gate valve and the ruturn completly submerged. You can then turn the gate valve so the lower pipe is under a complete siphone and the other has a good inch of clearance from the water level. I would then make sure the over flow pipes are completely submerged in the sump’s water. Another thing for further noise reduction is to put a foam mat under the tank and sump to dampen noise. One more thing is to put sponge under any pump. My tank is right next to my bed so I’ve become pretty good at silencing tanks ;)

You can make your setup work like a Herbie overflow by turning the overflow intake with the ball valve on it 180 degrees from where it is now, so it is facing down toward the bottom of the tank. Remove the air tube on that side and plug that holeDrill a small hole in the 90 (in the tank) so all the air can escape and create a full syphon on that side. (The right side when facing the tank.) Then open the valve completely and allow your DT water level to go down a bit (by syphoning it down to the sump). Then slowly close that ball valve until you have achieved a full syphon on the right side and just a little water is trickling into the other side. That should quiet things down quite a bit.

FYI, there doesn't look to be enough space in the sump for a power outage. The display is going to siphon into the sump, until air hits the return pipe.

You may have considered that already but just in case...

I did. I will have a hole drilled right above water line once I figure out where that will be. I'm going to grab an actual return line but added this just to stop water from pouring out above water line and making noise.

Wow! Sounds confusing but once I get back home I will follow this and give it a shot. I'll probably have some more questions once I try it. Just warning ya[emoji6]

This is a VERY good point that I completely missed... You will definitely want to reduce the size of the third chamber. If you will have a skimmer, it will need a much more shallow chamber than what you currently have.

I have a mat for sump. Just haven't put it under yet as I'm still playing with flow and plumbing. Super happy with the noise level of this new Jeabo 15000 DCP though. Dead silent

I will add stand under skimmer. But now that you say that I will trim baffle down too. It crossed my mind as well.

Lowering one drain completely under water helps alot but if pump shuts off that will be too much water displacement.

If I glue these inside will my plumbing work better

yes it will. then you're only going to drain the contents of what's inside that weir, thus keeping more water in your display and less in the sump... although I would also shorten the 2 tall baffles in the sump o that it runs with less water. that way you have room for a power outage

Basically went Herbie style. On one end I removed the 90° and put strainer directly into bulkhead and left other end alone for emergency drain. Then added a overflow box around the submerged strainer to cut back on amount of water back siphoned into sump if power dies. Dead silent. Thanks guys.
