Too many copepods!

We were staring closely at our tank last night and noticed thousands of those little things. I got kinda happy when I saw them ( if im not mistaken and they are indeed Copepods). Our tank is only a month old.

My fish do not keep the copepods in check. I do not feed phytoplankton, nor do I keep macro algae in this tank. Copepods will not bother corals they are harmless. My tank is going on 6 months.

They love phytoplankton. They move less in less phyto rich water. Inside a non culture tank they eat protiens and detritus in the tank phytoplankton will not hurt because they I'm sure will find and eat some but it has better tank benefits than copepod feeding . I will put a video up of my main cultures when I add the phyto they go insane.

No such thing as too many pods lol I have a booming population and while all my fish eat them the wrasses keep them in check. I have a 6 line I have had for at least 6 years and never saw him eat frozen or any other kind of fish food. Constantly trolling the tank for pods and other critters.

Anyway to cut down on the amount of copepods in a tank? I have never dosed them and they cloud up my tank. There’s literally thousands. The picture is of some on the back glass

I’m having the same problem. At night I use a flashlight & they are just all over the place. I have a goby,6 line & a Leopard Wrasse. Every time I change the socks I get at least 100. Is there anything else I can get to eat them? My tank is 180 reef tank
