After cleaning out my skimmer today AGAIN, I started wondering about my snail population. Particularly trochus snails. I've got what I consider a healthy population in the display ranging from small to huge. Quite a few small ones in the sump, which seem to wind up in the skimmer. It's not an infestation or anything, and I'm not overly concerned about it. Just wondering if my unintentional snail breeding program is an indication of something. Good? Bad?

Snails will procreate, they're fond of getting down and dirty. If you don't want them in your skimmer you can try creating some sort of intake grid to stop them from getting in there :) They'll probably also find their way to your return

I figured that a reproducing snail population was just the result of a healthy environment. Just wanted to be reassured that it was not a concern. I might try to DIY some sort of intake screen for the skimmer. Seems like I'm having to take it apart every 2 weeks.
