TOO MANY WINDOWS!!!

Does anyone else have a hard time with these videos loading on the app? Never seems to work for me.

Tint your windows 5%. That would greatly reduce the light coming through

And here is a pic I happened to catch with the sun today...

Very nice, and I love the music.

Come to think of it... Dr. Macs has a huge area of their frag system that is in a sunroom.

take a look at this tank . its located in a full sunroom glass all around and its beautiful . light will not make algae , nutrient will

a lot of things come into play when it comes to algae. its not just light, or just nutrients, or just flow. and seeing as how I don't plan to run a 0 nutrient system there will always be nutrients.

and the tank you linked to is beautiful and yes its in a sunroom there is also equipment on it that I will never own. such as the Dialyseas changing 1.5 gallons of water every single day. im not saying it cant be done without, but your comparing a Bugatti to a ford tempo in terms of what my tank will be vs his tank.

im not expecting an explosion of algae every time the light hits but I do feel with a decent UV and a CUC like the one @Triggreef suggested plus h2o2 dosing I should be able to keep it under control pretty easily.

I may use the heater core from a Ford Tempo to cool my new LED fixture. But I wonder if the Bugatti would cool it with more class?

maybe have more class but it would break down within a year and cost too much to fix.

Seems to me sometimes we over think our hobby a lil too much, for me it is trial and error. If i take care of the basics it seems the rest will take care of itself.

I am 100% in the "more natural light is better" camp. How much natural light do the reefs get? I think algae is a byproduct of nutrients, not light. I just put my new 180 peninsula between about 5 windows with no regrets:

@Terry4505 Wow, resurrecting this. Was perusing through this post. I have a tank coming in my new house in an area that gets lots of southern-facing sunlight. Similar to this, but not as bad. How did it ever go? Tank still up?
