Too much Coraline ?

Howdy,

I'm curious to know if you can have too much Coraline ? It is growing on everything including frag plugs and I'm wondering if it's out competing with the corals to grow on the plugs ?

It will consume some of your Alkalinity/Calcium, but can easily be compensated for by increasing your dosing.

Im not worried about it from a nutrient perspective - strictly other corals and growth of them

As long as you maintain your water parameters, it won't trouble your coral at all.

Some additional photos. We are sure these zoanthids are not being suffocated and restricted in growing due to being almost overtaken by coralline ?

Looking good! Coraline will not harm the corals. Just keep dosing to keep up with demand

I would just scrape and remove them, Why pay to grow algae when you can use that grow corals?

Great question, I wondered if coraline would hinder growth on my new acan frags , its growing like yours on the sides of the exposed skeleton
Sounds like we just keep doing the dosing and testing

Healthy coral will grow right over coralline algae... exposed skeleton is indicative of another problem.

Sorry should've been more clear . The exposed skeleton was from the previous owner when they fragged it along the sides not anywhere near the polyps
