Hey!
New to the site, I love it!

I just purchased an 8 gallon bio cube by oceanic. I have it all set up and cycling and am running a new (to me) kind of filter media, Chemi Pure Elite. I placed the filter media in the middle chamber but realizing after the media was for up to 50 gallons. Should I divide it up or is it okay to leave the whole 11.74oz bag in the system?

Thanks!

No you need too split it otherwise it will strip your water of phosphate begin with small amounts test and add more as necessary...I would add more when you start see your phos rising ..

Humm. I would do some mechanical medi like a spong or a small filter sock from innovative marine. Dose dr Tim's waste away if you read to much nitrate and phosphate. Careful though it's easy to get zero nitrate and phosphate with dr Tim's waste away

I had your same tank. Use chemi pure blue 5.5oz. Never had good results with elite.

I'd skip the chemipure altogether. All it really is is overpriced carbon with a little GFO mixed in. You can get carbon much cheaper from BRS or any other online retailer. GFO should only be used if there is a problem with phosphate, and then carefully so as to avoid stripping it out to quickly. You can put carbon in the bag thee chemipure comes in - in fact, I have a number of CP bags that I have been reusing for about 25 years (once I learned how much less expensive bulk carbon is)

i use chemipur blue nano packs in my 10gal. 5 pack for $12, last you 5 months in an 8 gal. Yes its more expensive then buying in bulk but its pre-measured, in a bag already, and $24 for the year.... easy.
