I have a 55 gallon tank and it has a marine land 1200. Is this too much flow? I had a Banggai Cardinal get sucked up too it and it died should I get a less powerful one. The person I bought this from had a naso tang get caught in it also.

My goby got caught in it also what should I do about it?

I am not exactly sure why your fish are getting caught in there. Maybe try cutting some filter foam around it, can secure with ziptie, just clean it often. The fish healthy before? That powerhead isn't that much flow, 1300gph right? In a 3ft long 65 I was running 2 mp40's at 60% and a gyre at 40% for 5500-6500gph and I never had a fish get sucked into any of them and I don't run covers on the vortechs. I have B cardinals and pajamas in there at that time too and no problems.

They seemed to be healthy but the Banggai might have been stressed because I just added him to the tank. The goby was doing fine before it happened also

Those pumps come with a plastic screen fitting, if you don't have it, try the ziptie and filter pad.
