Hello,

I am new to the hobby and I am slowly getting all the equipment together needed to get this thing rolling. I have read that for powerheads you want 20-40 times your aquarium volume. I have two Sicce XStream 925 gph powerheads.. is this too much flow for a 40 breeder? 40 times my aquarium volume would be 1600 gph and I will be pushing about 1850 gph.

This will be starting as a FOWLR for the first 6 mos-1 year then potentially moving in to some easier corals.

I would go with DC adjustable powerheads that you can fine tune flow with. Seems to be a lot of flow...depending on what corals you have or want.

I think the ones I have are AC.. I'm thinking about swapping them out for some lower GPH powerheads.
