Agreed fully. Hook up five of them, reef still grows coral still grows. No overkill for the purposes of the device. Under sizing, or the snooze fest of correctly sizing one is the real risk after having spent some money for an ends
I've been doing 100% water changes weekly (mostly) since 2001 (small nano reef easy to run this method as a test long term) this is equal insult to planktors and water borne bacteria/algae/invader etc
They are incidental for the ends desired
Uvs are cheat tools that some use, some don't, but if you aren't carbon dosing or running unique cryptic setups they simply are harmless on planted tanks, reefs, large tanks and nano reefs. My planted tank on YouTube was 75 gallon but had a five thousand gallon rated oversized uv behind it (those tri/quad array ones for ponds are about four feet wide simple tubes in array, not huge but rated for small koi ponds) they can fit easily behind the tank and stand if someone chooses to use that space for such equipment.
I never lost any sleep over having cheated with uv
If someone can do well without one, that's fine too. If I ever own a large tank again, uv it will be.
In the big peroxide threads, good statements now and then show up when they pick up the uv after having fought something without it
