Hello. I have added way too much phytoplankton into my reef. This is what it looks like. How can I remove most of it? Its clouding water and causing algae on the glass. I have gotten a feather duster to help.

Thanks.

Hi there and firstly welcome to R2R!

Looks like you’ve been a little heavy handed there with the old phyto and I think this may be beyond the capabilities of the little feather duster.

I would clean all the glass down and then carry out multiple water changes to get rid of all the rubbish in the water, and this should also help your potentially high nutrient levels as well.

Just try and make sure the fresh salt water is closely matched to the parameters of the tank water. The normal recommendation is 10% but maybe push that up to 20/25% and several off them over the next few weeks to get it cleaned up
