Too much pump?

I am getting a new return pump for my 92 gallon corner. I am trading for it and the two options I have are the coralife 1090gph and an iwaki pump at 540g,
anyone used either of these brands and is 1090 too much return for my tank?
Both are external.

is it a single corner over flow or a dual, one on each corner? for the 1090 , regrardless you can put a ball or gate value on the return and cut it back or build a mainafold and divert watch to something else like a carbon filter or filters?

Hey killingseed, thank you for the reply. It is one corner overflow. I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to do any of things you mentioned. I would prefer to just put it on and feel proud of myself that I accomplished that.

I think you would be happy with the Iwaki flow rate.
Which Iwaki pump is it?
