I’ve had an anemone with a pair of breeding clowns for almost 2 decades but the ‘nem got too big so I gave it up to the Norwalk Aquarium. I got a new ‘nem 3 months ago but it’s foot got torn and it never recovered so I lost it within a month. Sad 
Been on the lookout ever since and happily Keith from House of Fins in Greenwich CT hooked me up with a nice healthy new Heteractis Magnifica. While I was picking it up I had an impulse buy ‘cuz House of Fins has a huge colony of the Holy Grail and offer spectacular frags which of course come with a spectacular price. Anyways just thought I’d share a vid of my new reef additions. Oh and I forgot the actual most important part of the story. Aside from wanting to trade my ‘nem ‘cuz it was too big I also wanted to try my hand at the impossible, namely creating a clownfish family.
To do so I tried several new ideas. First to get the ‘nem to settle quickly I put it on a glass plate. I don’t mean a plate of glass. I mean a real glass plate I had put in my sump months earlier. Got it at a tag sale years ago with that in mind. Anyways the ‘nem grabbed on almost immediately. Second I bought 6 juvenile clownfish all from the same clutch and one older, larger juvenile from another clutch And put them in the tank a day prior to introducing the ‘nem. There was a Bubbletip in the aquarium but the clowns showed no interest. They stayed in a tight group the whole time prior to the introduction of the Heteractis Magnifica. As expected the clownfish all went in the anemone within seconds of me putting it in the reef. I put the ‘nem under eggcrate on the glass plate with most of the flow turned off. Within an hour the ‘nem was stuck down and I could turn the flow back on. It looks slightly pale to me so if it darkens up in the coming months I’ll raise it up,but for now looks ok. Still a huge question mark as to whether or not the clownfish will settle down but at least so far the aggression seems to be abating. Fingers crossed
