took down a tank, need to run something in it to kill everything

I have a 29gal tank that I just took everything out of (except sand and water) and sold to a buddy. I want to know what I can put in the water to run the tank with that will kill everything and make cleaning it up easier. I want to resell it, and there's coralline all over the back wall and I just want to make things easy. Note: There are 2 other reef tanks in the same room, 2ft. away, so it needs to be safe, meaning once I pour it in the 29, it wont go in the air or anything and harm my other tanks.

Vinegar does wonders to clean up coralline..should effectively kill everything else as it throws ph for a huge loop too...

ok and I don't have to worry about my 75g reef tank thats right next to it? it doesn't have a cover either..but the 29 does. How much vinegar do you think I should add?

Should have no problems with the other running tank..and as far a how much...I'm not sure how much will get the job done...i always just sort of pour until it looks hood when I'm cleaning power heads in a bucket lol...maybe somebody else can chime in and give a good amount..

Id say for a 29, like a half a cup or so should do it...just give it a good rinse before your friend fills it up.

You're throwing the sand out when its all said and done correct?

1/2 to 1 cup should do it. I'd toss the sand first.

Since it's so cheap I'd just pour and entire half to a whole gallon of vinegar into the tank. Works even better if you heat it up The less water you use to dilute the better it works.
I personally never dilute when cleaning tank equipment.

If you have time, I've always had good luck just letting it dry thoroughly. It usually flakes off with a scraper pretty easily after that. Maybe a spray bottle with vinegar and an algae pad to finish, if you need it spotless.

Anything specific you're trying to make dead, or is it just the coraline that you are worried about for cleanup purposes?

Just the algae on the glass and the coraline, making it as easy as possible to clean out.

Do a little testing. The longer it soaks the easier it will be to clean.

I agree, the more you use, the better it will work.
