Hey folks, I'm a stick head, and don't know much about the different varieties of Zoas available these days. I know they all seem to grow like weeds in my tank, but with my "new" 460 gallon tank I want to have a couple of rocks dedicated to zoa gardens and I want to be very picky about what goes on them. This does not mean they need to be expensive (but they can be), I just want beautiful colors that I can combine on a couple of rocks to make them real purdy. I have some Rastas, Tubbs blue, some Goblins on Fire, and some Blondies that I like. I'm looking for zoas, not Paly's as I like the small polyps. Who's got some suggestions for me?

Well I wouldve suggested rastas but those are already on your list. I like the utter chaos and utter peace zoas, awesome speckled coloring on the polyps. Green magicians are also cool, and offer a nice shade of turquoise/blue. Spellbinders are also nice but quite pricey.Interstellars and Gatorade zoas are also super cool.

I have gatorades and Utter Chaos, which are already on a rock with some Pink Diamonds, but those are larger polyps than I'm looking for. I want the smaller polyps like blondies and rasta's. Thank you for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

My top zoas are:

- Rastas (already on the list)
- Electric Oompa Loompas
- Candy Apple Red
- Sonic Flare
- White walkers (not everyone likes)
- Sunny D
- Utter chaos
- Twezzlers
- Armor of god
- Pink Hipo

And some eye candy for you:

I find that smaller zoas are kind of pointless if they have a mix of colors on their polyp because they just blend together when the colony gets big. This is why I like bigger zoas and palys because they can have an intricate or exotic contrast of colors or glyph and it doesn't get lost as the colony grows. Hornets are an example. They are cool when you get close but not really interesting if you view from a distance.

For this reason for smaller zoas I prefer primary colors. My favorites are radioactive dragon eyes, bam bams, oxides, kedds reds, Tubbs blues, and king midas.

Anyone have an idea what these are?

About three months of growth. The AIO zoa's from WWC were originally five polyps that I had in the tank from April 2020 to November what you see in the first photo below. The Hornets on the left side have not really grown much and the other one zoa that is a pale green they call a Hawaii PPE zoa they went from being flat to extending the stem and the heads shrunk a bit.

Did you have a CB Bowser on your list? That is an amazing looking specimen. $80 for one polyp but I think the color makes up for it's price. I have another zoa rock setup which I need to move a bunch of equipment to really get a good photo of but the CB Bowser on that one has about 6-7 heads since placing in the tank in October 20'. Check that coral out.
