Adam I'm sure you have seen a lot of the best of the best when it comes to sps. I would love to know if you could put only 10 sps corals in your tank, which would you choose?

Oregon tort
Jaw dropper
500 efflo
WD tenuis
Orange passion
Red planet
Wolverine
Sunset milli
Rainbow delight
Terra de fuego

This is hard...red dragon, acr fire works, fox flame, pink Floyd....I would need two tanks with 10

Aww, fox flame an red planet on my list. [emoji6]
When I first started my tank I had a red dragon I lost, wow glad I tried it a second time it's growing quickly. [emoji106]

Actually it's funny that I've had this conversation a couple time just this week. But when it comes to selecting what goes in my relatively small personal display, (30x30) I am far more interested in structure than color.

Believe it or not. Those subtle nuances like orange tips and red polyps etc, all but disappear after you've taken your fifth or sixth step back.
From 5-10 feet away, what you really see once the colonies have matured a bit, are the shapes they have become. The way they have filled in the negative space and how they have accepted the environment.

It's for this reason that I choose to put structure over color always. Now of course I'm not putting profoundly unique brown acros there. I'm not that much of a purest. I like the super pretty stuff just as much as anyone. But this being my fifth or sixth full fledged sps reef, I’ve come to appreciate the important part structure plays when deciding what to mount in my personal display. These shapes will ultimately define your mature reef far more than contrasting tips or polyps.

If I had to keep just 10 in there right now. These guys would stay:). But ask me again in another year or so and my answer will be different I’m sure. I mean that's what it's all about for me. I wouldn't call this a top ten of personal favorites either, Rather the perfect balance of just 10 acros, for how I'd like a mature reef tank to look.

In no particular order

Sanjay's Lep con beard
PC superman
Atl blue clover
Pink panther
Thundercats
Tubs real deal Echinata
Battle stag
Hellflower milli
BC Points Efflo
Skinny love

Wow, sounds like an interesting top 10!
I don't think I'm up to play on any of your selections [emoji15] , but pc superman. Do you mind posting pics with names, not in black writing please [emoji16]

I have always had a soft spot for the red dragon and the red planet. They are both great examples of a super awesome acro that adapted to a far range of conditions, and was forgiving enough, that eventually enough reefers got it right, that now they are a very affordable piece, and just as great looking as the most expensive frags out there on the market.

Red dragon, should be called pink panther or something pink. The first LFS told me to keep it low, I have it up higher and it's growing nice under radion at 50%. [emoji106]

+1 on the structures for sure!!! I have a couple of no name acros over the years, that I bought by the structure alone. Some of the mature colonies you see in other friends tanks that had have them for a couple years, are just astounding.

Battlestag!!!
My current display is not even three years old yet. Not really much to show off. Getting there though.
That's not true at all! There might not be huge colonies, but that tank looks amazing. Haha that fat powder blue was awesome

Adam I really like your comment about structure. Above is my first tank and I learned a lot about sps placement from it. My second time around I have put a lot more thought into my aquascaping and how it would effect my sps placement.
