Top off?!?!

Checked my reef tank salinity tonight and it read 1.026. I like to keep the tank at 1.024-25. I have a 2.5 gallon store bought purified water jug. It says processed by ro and or distillation. My question is do I need to add a dechlorinor like prime to it or should I be ok. I don't have ro filter on my water system and for now on I'm buying it cheap from my reef store just like I buy my saltwater premixed. Thanks again guys!!! And gals!!! Lol

RO/do or distilled water will not need any other additives you should be good to go

Ok thanks!!! I just topped off a little bit and added a smudge of prime. It should hurt anything right?!?! But I'll know for the next time.

Why do you want to lower the salinity? I wouldn't.

How are you measuring your salinity? Swing arm? Hydrometer? Refractometer?

Buy calibration fluid don't use ro/di water

Bulk Reef supply has a good refractometer, priced right. Got mine on sale.

I would also invest in a TDS meter. That way you will know if any water you get is good to use.
