Hi,
I have a 6 inch portion of the top black plastic rim on my 55 coming loose at the bottom outside portion. There is a small space between it and the outside glass. Not near a corner.
Can I use a glue that bonds plastic and glass to squeeze some into the gap and press together?
Krazy glue fits this idea.
I don't want this to get worse so this is my thinking.
Tank is "perfect " otherwise.

If the plastic trim in not broken and there is just a little gap between the plastic trim and the glass there is no concern. The plastic trim is normally siliconed to the top of the glass and the is where the support comes from. a space between the glass and the bottom of the trim may be normal and securing it to the glass will not gain you any strength.

hi this is top ring? no cracking, should not be a problem :)

Thanks for the above. The plastic top rim appears to be in fine shape, just that the gap between the bottom of the rim and the glass seems to be getting greater slowly. I would say that the bottom of the rim is loose for about 1/3 of the way up. Always like to keep the anxiety low, ha.

Pics might help, I can’t picture what you’re talking about.
I agree, but can't really capture it.
On a rimmed tank, we have the black plastic rim on at the top of the tank. When you look at the tank, the rim is glued onto the front of the glass by the manufacturer.
In my case, the bottom portion of this rim is loosening in one place. The length of loosening is about 5 inches. This forms a gap between the plastic and the tank glass.

My question s whether I can squeeze some krazy glue into this gap to get the plastic rim to reattach to the glass for structural stability. .

I believe my top rim is attached with silicone and adds a little more strength in keeping the tank together. I could be overreacting (I’m known to do that) but I would assume the glass panel is compromised somewhere and is causing the top rim to break free. That 100% could not be the case, just what my worrisome mind goes to first. Sorry, I’ve not been any help.

long as trim rim is not cracked ,should be no problem,if you feel better put a little silicone in void and clamp,i do not believe any integrety lost in tank,if trim is cracked different story all together :)
