Looks to me it was cut down the middle of the mouth...like it was splitting and prematurely cut.

I'm not sure a dip would help or put more stress on it.

Sorry that doesn’t help but sometimes dipping isn't the answer especially when a bad cutting job could be the issue.

Personally l I have never dipped coral, but I’ll give it a go. I would rather stay away from it though

If you haven't done it...doing it on an already comprised coral with its mouth showing isn't a great idea.

But if you do make sure you aerate the water for the duration of the dip and redip the coral into fresh tank water as not to bring any of the dip into the tank as some systems are more sensitive to dipping solutions.

It was dipped already. A dip would help fight off any bacterial infection. As you said, its compromised. Not doing anything could prove worse, especially if BJD comes about and kills whatever other coral he has...

The only reason this case is different is the mouth was cut down the middle and exposed without being able to close...at least it looks that way.... I just don't know if corals take in the dip solution internally or not.

But yes in general dips are a good thing.

tank is a 10 rimless with a hydor240&425 mostly pointed towards the bottom to stir anything up

That's a Gold Cristata... Score! Short gold tentacles with green tips. Looks great, actually! I have one that has split to 9 heads now and is doing great! They do like lower light and flow. I have mine tucked in the corner of my tank.

The skeleton that you're concerned about right at this point that would be indicative of further tissue recession would be any bright white skeleton (looks kinda like little curved knives pushing through the flesh) that gets newly exposed. Anything that is dull and looks like it's been exposed to tank water for a while isn't it. All you can do at this point is worry about progress, good or bad. Good luck!

Thank you!! I have no idea lol. Buddy gave me it as one head and almost dead. He said he try it out see if it lives lol
