I have enjoyed having an extremely glorious torch coral for several months now it has inexplicably retracted and I I'm not sure what to do. The only thing that has changed the I can see is that I may have siphoned the gravel around it more aggressively than before. The flow and lighting has not changed and neither has the feeding. All the other neighboring corals are quite vigorous and plump. I see no visible parasites. Parameters are unchanged and this has been going on for about 2 weeks.

Any insights? Do I just wait it out?
Thank you.

Any recent swings? Did the aggressive siphoning cause any swings? Did something grow and change the flow pattern? Lighting changes?

Some of these things are so hard to pinpoint

I feel like I am the thread killer. I post a decent question and no one replies. On the other hand I put my two cents into a thread that has hundreds of entries and its as if I shut the whole thing down cuz I soiled it with thread cooties or something

How old is your tank and what flow and lighting do you have?

Does the flow vary at all or is it 1 direction?

Also are there any clown fish in the tank that may have taken up residence in it? I mentioned that to someone just earlier today. Clowns can be a bit too rough with their hosts sometimes. Torch corals have a very sharp skeleton and they can irritate quickly. My clown has been sleeping in my hammer coral lately. I never see it near the thing unless it’s night time. I’m watching it closely. I love that coral.

9 months old. Flow I feel is very well tuned. I have a Sicce 0.5 return flowing across the top producing a bit of a gyre. That is opposed by an Aqamai KPS wavemaker running a pretty good program. Lots of smooth back and forth flow careful to avoid uni-directional. Light is 100% Actinic on 9.5 hr photoperiod.
