I got two new torches and two new hammer corals a week ago from a Black Friday sale (shipped over night). One torch never fully opened and today I noticed BJD on it. All my other torch and hammers that I already had have all been great and the other new torch and hammer opened up and are doing great. Would you say that the stress of shipping caused this or something that it came with? I got the affected torch out because I don’t see it recovering and I don’t want it to affect my other euphyllia. I guess my question is do I just chalk this one up to the cost of doing business? Any insights would be appreciated.

The coral may have had it and shipping stress merely exacerbated it. Without knowing what else you all have in your tank it's hard to say whether it was present in the coral or it was stressed and something in your tank did it in (I don't really have enough information to offer an accurate opinion).

You could ask the supplier for a credit for the lost coral - but I don't know their replacement policies. That would probably be the first thing to look into though.

Yeah that’s what I was wondering because all my other euphylia are doing great new ones and old ones. All parameters have been stable with no major changes (Salinity 1.25; Nitrate 10; Phosphate 0.1; magnesium 1300; alk 9). That one torch never really opened up and I noticed BJD on it today On my way! Week after I got it. It’s a mixed nano reef tank Other corals I got are some mushrooms, zoas, chalices, birdsnest, and monti who are all doing well and growing.
