My Torch coral has been acting odd lately not fully extending its polyps and where its mouth is it looks like its internals are sticking out of it. I don't know what could be bothering it. I tried taking it out to give it a coral dip bath in case there were any flatworms or other pests bothering it, but there was no success there. Has anyone had this problem with theirs before. I have another torch right next to it that is thriving so I am honestly stumped as to what is causing this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Has anything been crawling all over it?
No nothing has been crawling on it I thought maybe it was covered in flatworms but when I dipped it and used a turkey baster nothing came off

Did you end up figuring this out? Mine is doing exactly the same!

Unfortunately no I never really got a response to this.. my torch is still alive and it still looks that way for the most part. Wish I could help you more.

Fair enough.

I'm gonna do one of those test kits where you send it away to a lab. Will let you know if I get any good information!

Some torches and hammer look great then fail to thrive even in a perfect environment. I've seen this so many times with no reason over the years. Does it have a healthy flesh band? Good luck. Hope it gets better. I do know they hate to be moved around.

I thought about doing the same thing, but I have never had any other problems with any of my other torch corals. I got this one the same time as my indo gold one and now my indo gold has split into four heads where this one has given me problems. Even after that I picked up a dragon soul that’s doing great. So I have no idea what it could be. Let me know what you find if anything in the ICP test.

The flesh band is healthy. This one torch just makes me crazy. The only saving grace is it was a free torch I got from corals kingdom when I bought my indo gold so at least I didn’t lose money if it doesn’t make it. I have had him for about a year the polyps don’t get long like they did at first but it’s also not receding into the skeleton. So I’m just gonna keep letting it ride and see how it goes. It got a little better from the last time I posted pictures here so I’m thinking it’s just a slow road of recovery.

Agreed. It might perk up. Torches can be weird. Good luck.
