Torch coral peeling off stony skeleton?

New LFS opened up few months ago in staten island and everyone was raving about this place. I finally went and grabbed a toxic torch and purple tip torch frags. These were from a huge colony that they fragged as i was told. Something told me to check the salinity from this store and it was at 40ppt when i got home.. I did drip the frags for a few hours because i was shocked over the salinity.
A few days after i have gotten them the mantle has come off of both stony skeletons entirely. It has slowly peeled off. The flow in the tank was light on them so just the polpys lifted nothing crazy. I have cared for euphylia before and the other frags i have are growing.

Now i have mantles of torch nestled on a rock because they have peeled off. They move around because they are weightless. They are alive and opening up still. Does anyone have any ideas what this is from? The first head that peeled off disintegrated after a few days. I wish i did more water chemistry from the LFS when i got these frags. My ranges for water chemistry are normal and stable.
I have never seen this happen to torch coral before. Any ideas? Im thinking just stress from being fragged at some point then their high salinity in their tank to normal water chemistry in my reef was too much for them. Every other piece of coral i have is doing great not from that LFS

I'm not sure but I'd love to see what others have to say since this just happened to me as well. I have 6 euphillia of different types all doing very well but I added a frogspawn last week and it's peeled away just like you described. All the rest look great though.

Sounds like polyp bail out or it could be brown jelly disease , did you dip the corals?

Nah i didnt dip those ones. I was afraid of stressing them out. Little did i know what was gunna happen

You should always dip lol I learned this the hard way, if it is brown jelly it can spread to other corals so be careful

Its not the entire mantle is alive on mt sandbed next to the stony skeleton. No brown jelly thank god hahah
