my nitrates are a little high because gunk got stuck in the back filter and there wasn’t enough flow. so when i went to clean it a bunch of poop came flowing into the tank and killed 3 of my stoney’s. it’s lower now, maybe around 10-20 but i just wanted to know if my torch is okay it’s been puffing up and hasn’t been flowing like normal. should i just give it time?

I would perform a water change after any event like the filter spitting gunk into the DT. I had a similar situation in my koi tank and exchanged at least 25% of the water to reduce pollution stress. Match parameters, but remove phosphate and nitrates, towards lowering them in this situation.
