Torch Coral Receding Skeleton but Full Polyp Extension

I have had these torches for about a couple months now and I have started to notice that most of them are receding from the base but the polyps are all out and healthy.

Trying to figure out what is wrong with them as I'm worried they will die on me soon. They are getting around 200 par in that area

Yea most of them are currently splitting but I'm not sure if it's normal behavior for the skeleton to recede

No swings as far as I know of. I test weekly and dosing 2 part daily with red sea trace colors

So I just did a dip on the torch that was receding the most and found this in the water.

Can somebody give me an ID if these are EEFW or does it just look like the slime coating of the torch

Are they moving? Look like FWs to me.

No they were not moving.

It was stuck pretty tight onto the skeleton near the flesh and I had to turkey baste it multiple times for it to come off

It does look to be the flesh....

Unless there was a swing in one or more of your parameters and you have no critters that would be nipping at them, I would suggest a bacterial infection.

You can try dipping but if it is bacterial many have had this issue and no one really know why.

Some say adding beneficial bacterial like microbacteria 7 can help fight the bad bacteria. But there are also others that say it is just snake oil in a bottle. Once you can tell if the head is truly gone or not you can then frag the bad head off.

I'm sorry you are running into this problem. I had BJD come in on one of my torches and I didn't catch it in time and lost a few heads. If you can treat this in time you might be able to save what heads are not infected.
