It was going fine untill a few days ago it stopped opening as much. I moved it to a different spot in the tank so I can keep a better eye on it today and I noticed this...

It looks like the heads are shedding similar to a leather coral or something.

I have not found anything on this so if anyone knows something that would be great.

Usually with retraction like that your water chemistry is not right. Something if off and you’ll start seeing polyp bail out as well. I would start testing water parameters and see where they are at. With the GHA in the background growing your nutrients may have bottomed out as well.

I have been checking them and they have been high because I was doing smaller water changes trying to avoid having to go out as much. So I did 4 roughly 25-30% water changes over the corse of 4 days.

Yesterday phosphate levels were in the .45 range (the coral in question has done fine with them getting as high as .90 at one point when I was dosing polyp-booster regularly) so they are definitely not at zero, though they are not low either.

My other indo torch is doing just fine now, and Ironically it was the one I was worried about a couple days ago.

The thing that is confusing me is the layer of "skin" that seems to be peeling off the heads. I tried looking for something talking about it but no one seems to have seen it before.

Like if someone's torch is dying that isn't a symptom I have seen, nor do people talk about it like it is normal.

Either way, I got more blue legs in there (my pistol shrimp slowly picked them off) and I have some Vibrant coming in today that will hopefully help in the algea issue long run.

Have a hammer this is happening to myself now. Have not seen it before. It was doing great up until this week when it retracted and then started peeling in the same manner
