torch coral shrinkage :(

yea ig i didnt really take that into perspective, but at the same time to mee lps is lps and theoretically whats good for one should be for the other. ik no two corals are typically the same care requirement wise, but on a broader spectrum when it comes to their classification i would like to think its all relatively similar in care.

A logical fallacy for sure. An extreme example would be, “This Sun Coral is not doing great, it must be the light so put it next to the Favia”.

The terms "LPS" and "SPS" were made up by the hobby and have absolutely nothing to do with scientific taxonomy or "classification". You are simply wrong in thinking that all LPS have similar enough care requirements that you can just generalize and swap one out for another. Please research the coral you already have and any you plan to get. Tidal Gardens is one of many places that has good articles/summaries about different corals

@Tahiti dam i feel ur pain man. watched my starry blenny ( out of all things) chomp at some of my fav acan the other day, he gone now but one just passed from him
That sucks but luckily you caught him and didn't kill other stuff.

the bubble algae is a problem you need to address also, maybe taking away nutrition from your torch's

Yes it definitely looks like it's split/ two heads :)

its deff bubble algae. im gonna try and remove some today but i was wondering if i should do it all at once or in sections, that way not to shock the tank

Lol! It won't shock anything to remove the algae.

well i didnt know if all the stored phos and nitrate from the algae leeching back into the tank all at once or in sections which would be easier on the tank especially w the previous aggitation to the corals

looking into getting something good, ive been asking for reviews on this product but havent gotten any yet. as for the algae since it absorbs and stores phos and nitrate i was concerned all that would be released back into the water further causing issues vs doing it in parts so it can stabilize

Best way to remove bubble algae would be in stages in my opinion, you could start... best way is furthest point from your main filter use a toothbrush ( interestingly I recently found a baby bottle brush that does a larger area but center can rust easily, other suggestions welcome).. and work towards your filter every week, after each clean test your water the next day but doubt it would cause an issue, then repeat weekly, then monthly, in no time you won't have an issue
