Torch coral spitting something weird

What?

You do know the normal alkalinity of the ocean is right around 7DKH right? So why the suggestion to not go lower then 8?

I've never ran my tank higher then 7.5 and all my euphyillia do just fine.
So I understand that NSW is around 7DKH and that’s where I keep mine but in my tank experience for me to keep torches, higher alk is preferred. I come to that assumption because I believe that they grow better and are prone to less issues. Not to say euphyillias aren’t fine living under 8dkh because your tank is proof of that and I have a bubble coral that is doing perfectly fine in my tank (that’s 7.0dkh).

Just to let you know all three lfs I go to all have alk of around 8 or less and have torches. I think you are blaming the alk for no reason here. Also if you are keeping a 7dkh tank how often are you testing and are you dosing?

I have a trident so I have it’s testing 4 times a day long with my weekly manual test and dosing is everyday. My alk flux at most .15 the whole day. Again like I said a few time prior every tank is different and in my experience the higher alk resulted in better torch health. Not saying that anything outside of that the corals won’t survive for long because clearly there are classes in which things survive perfectly fine.

Ya that’s not a big fluctuation. Just seems weird to me that so many people here and that I’ve met keep around or sub 8 alk tanks have never had issues with torches related to the alk level unless it’s not stable. Hopefully someone will chime in with some more help.

Yea I don’t know either but there’s been a few people I know that have had the same issue but no idea what it could have caused it so it’s a toss up to what actually happened since it was a while back.

I keep alk between 7.3 - 7.5 massured 2 times day via kh director.. In aquarium is bunch of glabs, I have 15+ heads green torch colony. 15+ heads frogspawn colony. Everything is doing fine.. But my favorite one is still receding..
Any advice I would appreciate.
Here is how it looks today.
And some of my other euphyllias

Have you parameters fluxed at all or a change of anything? (flow, lighting, feedings) @bert236 maybe can give you more advice then I can I haven’t had much luck with torches but he seems to be more fortunate.

I’m not more fortunate lol I still haven’t pulled the trigger yet on buying one. I have been talking to a few places around here about them and what their parameters are, placement and flow. I just wanted to point out that a few lfs around me and plenty of reefers on here run lower levels of alk and don’t have issues. I was just trying to help troubleshoot a bit before someone more helpful could give advice. Honestly not sure of anyone to tag here for torches but I’m sure someone with more knowledge will see this at some point.

My parameters are pretty constant.
Alk 7.3-7.5
Ca 430
Mg 1450
No3 50
Po4 0.05-0.1 it's always higher days after reef roids which im using once a week.

This video was day when 24k start receding..

What are the chances that he was burned by green glabrescens?
