My torch coral won't open, I have had it for 6 weeks and it still won't open. My calcium is a little low, so I just started the kalk drip. I use pre mixed salt water form my lfs. They use instant ocean.

That looks a lot more like a Duncan to me...

Do you have alkalinity, phosphate, or SG?

Also, what lighting and how much flow is that getting?

I am new so you might be right. I am getting test tomorrow for that. I have leds. Run them at 60%. Thanks

Yes i would also say duncan. I thought i hit wrong post when i saw the pix. It seems it would be in water perimeters. Duncans are usually always open. They can adjust to many different lighting and current. But is it never opened i would rule out light and current. But color still looks good.

definitly a duncan lol
hmm was it open when you purchased it

also what light are you using do you have any fish that may be pestering it
basically if you could give us your tank params and stock list that would help alot!

Sorry for the wrong coral name. Rookie I guess. It was open when I bought it. I have the reef radiance led lights. About. 80/60, but I have adjusted the leds both all the up for a week , and than lowered them down. So idk if it's the lights. I have observed the fish bothering it. Just a maroon clown fish and a yellow goby. My tank is 75g. 2 koralia 1150 on opposite sides. Iam beginning to suspect its my water. I buy from lfs my water and it's already mixed with instant ocean. My calcium was way down. So I just started the kalk drip. Idk? Need help guys?

Here's what I would do. Get a kitchen glass and wash it with a vinegar solution. Place the Duncan inside on the bottom of the tank. This will cut down on the flow.

Then I would ditch the instant ocean salt. I switched to Red Sea Coral Pro and all of my corals are doing awesome. My duncan actually started growing 4 new heads on each of the original heads in the first 3 weeks.

Ok I am going to try it tonight. I just picked up some salinty salt. So hopefully it was worth the extra money.

Did you get Red Sea Coral Pro salt? And, Are you getting your RODI from the LFS? Make sure you mix for about 3 hours with a PH and Heater in the container.

I just got some Aquavitro Salinity salt. The lfs tested the water for me before I bought the water. Everything looked great and on target. So hopefully this can work for me, and it was clear.
