Torch died - nitrate down phos up

My torch died overnight! - I’ve been getting by nitrates and phosphates under control… in the process my nitrates went down to about 10ppm but phosphate went up to 1.92 and it was at 1.24.

So I think nitrates went down and phosphate went up - running carbon and rowaphos anything else?

Probably went up because of the death.
Is that right? 1.24 to 1.92?
That's really high.

How big is your tank and how long has it been running. With phosphate at those levels you should consider a very large water change (ie, 75%+).

It’s only a 75g been up a little over 1.5 years but finally got a sump a few months back but po4 and nitrates have always been high - waiting for rowaphos to do its thing

I was doing about 5gal per day but I could increase that to maybe 20g if that’s not too much?

Phosphate is bound in rock and sand. Water changes are not a great way to reduce phosphate.

So where does that leave me ? Continue with rowaphos?

Rowaphos or similar product, lanthanum chloride or similar product.
Lanthanum not for the faint of heart.

Watch what you feed, Kalk, skimmer, socks, ect.

Lanthanum Seems wayyyy too complicated for me I need a set it and forget it approach
