torch dying ?

hi guys, wondering if this torch should be taken out or is there still a chance of coming back? i’ve had it for a few months and all my other torches are fine. it’s slowly shriveled up and now it’s mouth is open and looks like it’s pouring it’s guts.

salinity 1.024, temp 77F, nitrites 0, nitrates 10, phosphates 0.06, ammonia 0.25 tank is 6 months old

What is your Calcium, mag & alk at?
Honestly, it doesn't look good. Watch for BJD and get it out asap if you start to see it decline further or smell. It could nuke your whole tank.

i dont know my calcium or mag. my ph is around 8, and i just did a test with my pool kit and it says my alk is 80 pp. temp is 77F

If your perimeters are all in line, It either doesn't like the light or the flow.

You shouldn't be removed from the system until they show signs of bacterial infection which looks like a translucent brown goo or gel on top. They are finicky but can come back from near death.

i would highly suggest you get yourself some test kits for your parameters...right now we and you are taking a shot in the dark..

i ordered some tests they will be here in a few days. just wondering when is the point of no return though, i would hate for it to hurt my other corals or spike ammonia.

How long has it been this way? If it just happened it could just be expelling waste. This is how mine will look and less than an hour back normal.

well i would say one of the heads started receding 2-4 weeks ago. and the other head over the last week slowly shrinking.

I lost one 4-head torch about 5 months ago. It started shrinking one head at a time until nothing was left apart from the skeleton and it took all four heads approximately 10 weeks to shrink and melt away.

The same thing's currently happening to another one of my torches. I've had the torch in the picture below for 9-months, and it's currently melting away in precisely the same way. Over a period of a month, the first head has gone, the 2nd head is almost gone, and the 3rd and 4th heads are still there but don't look good. I've got another three established torches in my tank, which are all fine and showing no sign of any problems.

In short, it took about 10 weeks for my torch to lose all the heads and become a skeleton. I don't know if there was anything I could've done as all my other corals are fine and my three other torches are fine. My water stays pretty stable at salinity 1.026, temp 77F, nitrites 0, nitrates 15, phosphates 0.2, alk 10.4, mag 1380, cal 480, ph 8.2.

Ya, sorry not the same. You could try an iodine dip, but that’s all this small brain can come up with. I hope it works out for you.

Take it out of the tank and smell it; if it smells like rotten eggs, then it's probably BJD and you want to get it out of your tank asap as it can kill all your other euphilia.

i heard that you should leave the skeleton in, because even months later is might come back

it smells fine. my xenia smells like fish and slimy but they are absolutely thriving and no problems. it is stinky tho i don’t think any of my other corals smell like that. the only coral in my take that isn’t happy is my small zoas, they have been half opened for almost two months no matter where i move them, dipped them in coralrx too. but they are stable at least
