Torch help?

So I bought my first torch and was wondering if the slime looking stuff around the base is normal/ok? Stressed about it because UPS sucks and the package got delayed.

I've not seen that before. Almost looks like invasive sponge.

As long as you don't see recession your good. We had grey sponge that would outcompete/suffocate some corals. Just keep an eye out

Cool guess I’ll leave it unless it starts encroaching on the polyps???

That should be fine. Its easily removed with a toothbrush
