Torch help

I would say that's less tissue extension than you'd like, yeah. When they're happy it should extend a couple inches from the tentacle base and be more whitish. The one on the left is okish, the one on the right is cutting it close. Did you purchase these torches all at the same time? Jw

No, in fact the torch in question was the first one. The sunrise torch and Aussie gold were at the same time; about 3 weeks ago. There’s a free torch that’s black with blue tips I got that I’ll be moving shortly, just acclimating. Then there’s a NY knicks indo gold I just got 2 days ago. Here’s a video. Again I know the polyp extension isn’t where it needs to be on that torch; I was questioning the “tissue recession”.

I'm confused. Which torch are you concerned about? I may have been thrown off by photos of a torch we weren't discussing I guess?

To be honest, all the torches in that pic look a little low in extension. But that's just my 2c, you don't have to agree.

Not trying to come across as judgemental or accusatory, sorry if it seems so.

You would argue this has “pretty bad recession”??
Yes, I would argue that point.

In time, this can and will heal if your water is pristine. This also may be why the polyp extension is not where it should be.

Not at all! Just always eager to learn

They all look like fresher imports.

Which brings its own complications to add to coral health.

Sometimes if all of your torches are ok and water chemistry has been ruled out...it comes down to internal issues.

Such as worms as suggested.

The hard part with these is we don't know exactly how they were fragged.

Here's an example of an import that I got almost 2 years ago when indo first opened back up...it never really grew or took off. It started losing color for no apparent reason.

So I decided to frag it apart and wouldn't you know it inside the skeleton there was a worm at the base which was affecting the whole colony.

The torch was dying from the inside out.

I'm NOT saying this is what's happening to yours.

What I am saying is yours look like they were fragged quick and not cleaned very well.

The flesh actually looks like it has potential to heal.
