Hi guys i just changed to 2 nero 5 from one gyre pump and ever since i changed wave pump my torch is not fully opened(mabye 60%). It immediately retracted after changing pump. All other corals are fully opened and over livestocks seems healthy. Does torch needs time adapt to new flow pattern? Its been 2 days already and im started to get worried.

Torches are very sensitive towards change. I would believe in this situation it’s still adapting towards the flow pattern or there is too much flow. The neros are very different from the gyre.

Does it usually take more than a few days for torch to adapt to new flow? My hammer doesnt seem to care about what ever the flow is. The flow is actually way less than before i have it on sync mode with 55% 3 sec on amd 3 sec off.

I feel hammers are less sensitive than torches. Whenever I do a change in my tank, my hammer looks practically unharmed and my torch looks stressed. But if anything a couple days will help the corals towards adapting, unless if the problem doesn’t change. I would check parameters

I agree with torch being more sensitive than hammer. Hammer seems to stay open even with some handling but torch will retract and takes some time to open again. I will wait few more days and check water parameter again.

Maybe he don’t like the 3 sec on/off surge, is that different from the gyre.
My gyre didnt have pulse mode so it could be an on off mode it hates. Should i go for less

gyre was on a constant mode so it could possibly be an on/off mode. Should i lower it to 1 sec. or should i just put it on constant?I prefer lower pulse mode for lps and soft corals.

Me, I would try to emulate the previous flow both in pattern and intensity, give him a week and see.
You can increase/decrease flow, but real slow and they don’t like big flow.

Slight gentle waving is sufficient.
