What could locally damage it like that? I have a large urchin. My tank is currently fallow due to velvet. Maybe my fire or peppermint shrimp stealing food now that the tank is being fed only coral food and not fish food? The only corals that touch it are other indo torches.
The photo was taken last night. Just checked and they appear to be gone. I did target feed the corals about an hour before the filaments were seen. Is it possible this is nothing more than a feeding response?
Possible, did you add food recently before you spotted the filaments (Think last 30-60 min before seeing them)
Yes. I fed a slurry of phyto, Reef chili and amino acids exactly 30 minutes prior to this photo. And I target feed, so doused him in a cloud.

I’m pretty much paranoid about pests 24/7. I feel like all I do now is look for them lol! But heard. Will keep an extra eye on this one. I’ve had torch corals go downhill fast in the past, but this guy is always inflated and has a thick skin band so thinkibibg it must have just been the feeding.That could do it!
