Torch Tissue Recession

was searching all over the place for other peoples settings on similar sized tanks with more LPS.
blows me away that some run theirs at 100%
I ran mine at 100 for about a week when I first set it up and quickly reduced it down as everything looked like it wanted to melt away.

I had kessil 360 in a nuvo 40, all euphyllia dominate.

I never had them at 100%.
I think i maxed out at 65%, slowly.
Its a great light, but gotta ramp it up over months, not days.

I never had lighting issues with euphyllia, I find them to be pretty tolerant.

What kind of torch is this?

ok thanks, ill give these a try as well.
I usually dose the alk first and wait about 5 minutes or so then add the calc.

As far as reducing the carbon, how do you mean?
Right now I have a bag rated for 50g in the sump that I change out every 10 - 14 days
Thats kinda too much, I change mine, in a reactor every month - month and a half..

I use to have my AI Hydra's on the classic rails with the legs sitting on the tank... That put them about 8" AWL. My SPS were fine, but hammers, torch, and Alveopora hated it. I got the hanging kit and set them 11" AWL and cranked them up... Total turn around! Everything in the tank did better.
If you can, try raising your lights higher.

Thanks.
Yeah I set it down to the 45% and raised it an inch.
Torch looks better from the top side. The tissue on the stem is what's concerning. I'll get a better pic of the underside tomorrow

Tissue on the stem will take more time to recover or to receed but its a great indicator of how good your Euphilia is doing and its great that you're paying attention to it.
I say lower flow and lower light and going up with the light very slowly.
My tank was under halides and T5s and I switched the T5 for LEDs. I'm acclimating very very slow as I do have my halides running anyway and rely on LEDs for supplementation only. Still my LPS and some of my accros took a little hit on colors and how good they looked for few weeks. They are now recovering on both aspects.

never did take a picture of the tissue on the underside (stem)
But both the torch and hammer look 100% better.
both full and wide open. thanks for the input all.

Didn't realize Kessil was THAT strong.

Hi Ryan,
I am going through a similar situation too.. and hope to learn from you. Mine is a 2 month old tank after successful cycle... yes i did the mistake of adding too many corals too soon. Followed this thread and there were many suggestions and tries... not really sure where to start.

In your opinion what should immediately look for or do.. thanks.
