Looking to get a couple of torches from an online vendor. Order from them plenty, know they are generally good.

I have read that torches aren't great shippers. Thoughts?

I get that physical damage is a potential problem. Is that it? Or something else?

I haven't seen issues with shipped torches more than any other coral. I might argue it has more to do with the health of the torch prior to shipping. But I also typically purchase from what I consider some of the top vendors around so there usually isn't a problem with anything ever.

It really depends on the vendor. Packaging is very important and so is initial torch health. I'd say torches need at least 3 months after fragging before they should be shipped. And then only if they have a healthy flesh band.

90% of vendors don't meet those standards. A lot of vendors frag it and throw it in a bag and ship it which is basically certain death. A lot of others ship torches with very poor flesh bands which are already struggling.

The torch I got from TSA was shipped great, although I can see where shipping torches can sometimes get iffy.

I don't think torches are any harder to ship than anything else. as long as its healthy when it goes out the door and packed well should be fine. keep in mind though that torches are similar to acros in that they can die randomly for what seems like no reason. I mean i'm sure there is a reason but i'll probably never figure out what it is.

Thanks for the input. Bought from Vivid, which I've bought from plenty over the years.
Shipped well, and are settled in nicely, look great
