This is growing on the side of this leather. It's hard, has a white line around the edge. I've got a piece of live rock that has more of these growing on it. I've never had a scoly of any kind in this tank.

Hitchhiker from live rock / maricultured coral maybe?

Very irregular edge shape makes me think it is something more encrusting.

It's certainly impressive in terms of color.
 
So it's hard and encrusting the rock? The orange parts look like the flourenscent parts of other types of red macro algae like dragon's breath so it could be hildenbrandia, which is like a red version of coralline.

It is for sure encrusting. I've never seen a coralline algae like this before tho. That would make much more sense than being a proper coral.
