I’m torn between two tanks. Currently living in an apartment so need to keep it small. I am torn between the IM nuvo 30 and 25. The 30 would give me more room side to side and the 25 would give me room front to back. Torn which would be better. Planing to do an acan tank.

Are you looking at the EXT models so you can add a sump underneath for more tank room or sticking with the All in one models? Personally I'd go with the 30L (Which I'm assuming is the one you are referring to and not the 30 cube). Theres actually a thread around here exclusively for 30L owners. I'll tag @samnaz In here as they are currently working on a 30L with bottom sump to share some thoughts as well.

I’m going with the ext to run a sump. And yes it’s the 30L

If you're going with an EXT I mean the 30L hands down I think, MUCH more room for scape options, wider front viewing panel. It will definitely be more expensive to light due to the length but definitely worth it atleast IMO.

I am leaning towards the 30L. But the extra 4 inches of depth on the 25 is tempting.

Definitely nice to have but the 30L has an extra 12" of length which is also really nice to have... It's worth noting that to my knowledge atleast the 25 EXT is being discontinued by IM. I've yet to receive an email on the topic from IM so I'm not entirely sure how true it is, but its sold out just about everywhere and shows "Discontinued" on a few websites...

+1 for the 30L no contest. I prefer long and shallow tanks. Seems bigger than it is and 12” longer than the 25 as someone mentioned. I may be biased though, as @JoshH mentioned I’m working on a 30L Nuvo Black. It’s such a beautiful tank!

I’ll link you to a couple threads that may help to convince you ;-)

I saw the 30L in person and to me the overall dimension is better but the back sump portion makes the actual display arrow very narrow

So the models we are discussing actually have an external overflow and do not have a rear sump. They are designed to have a sump under the tank. While the 30L EXT is definitely narrower than the 25 it's actually much bigger than the 30L AIO because the AIO space is in tank space (Display space) on the EXT and isn't used as a sump.

Am I the only one who, when reading the title of this thread, thought of a certain Mary MacGregor song from the ‘70s?

I understand your need to keep it small because you live in an apartment. I had the same issue deciding between the Red Sea Reefer 170 and 250 as my wife wanted a smaller profile in the living room. In the end I purchased the 250 which is 12 inches wider and we both couldn't be happier. :)

I recommend that you buy the 30 so you can really show off your aquascaping and corals. It will have more of a visual punch. ;)
