Curious if there is a comprehensive list of the LE type torts as well as how you may visually tell them apart from the others. Also, are any of the purported torts likely not torts at all?
I picked up several from a local reefer and I'm just not good at telling one from the other (myagi, ora, cali, and 2 others as the names escape me).
thanks,
casey

no clue. ORA and cali are the same thing. oregon is obvious when you see it as its insanely bright blue (if you get the real deal).

I take any and all Acropora sp. names with a grain of salt. There are over 100 species, many nearly identical, and even coral biologists have difficulty telling some species apart after a skeletal exam. I use the species name as a possibility of what it could be, but don't take it as a certainty.

Also be leary of any ORA Acropora species name. They use historical names (and readily admit this. I love ORA and carry their products) Things like the Hawkin's blue echinata are known to not be A. echinata but is called that because it's what it's been called in the past. I'm sure other companies do the same thing further adding to the confusion.

thanks for the info guys...Leishman, do you have a tank thread?
